Waikato Aviation Cluster Gears Up for Growth
The Waikato Aviation Cluster is seeking a project manager to ensure it reaches the industry’s high growth industry potential.
Waikato Aviation Cluster Chairman, John Jones, says the Cluster has largely been in a planning phase for the past year and is now entering a new phase of growth. It now requires a manager that can ensure plans are implemented and results are realised.
“The Cluster of over thirty‐five local aviation companies has collectively developed a strategy to significantly grow the region’s industry over the next four years and to provide high‐paying, skilled jobs in the Waikato.
“All of these plans require a passionate project manager to drive these initiatives forward. As the Cluster’s objectives come to fruition, we’ll be able to create more jobs and increase regional and national economic wealth through exports,” explained Mr Jones.
The Waikato Aviation Cluster has seven strategic objectives including:
- Increasing manufacturing output from 36 to 90 aircraft per year.
- Increasing CTC Aviation Training airline pilot trainees numbers from 200 to 350 per year.
- Growing the Cluster’s subcontractor community.
- Establishing a shared heat treatment facility and specialist aviation paint facility.
- Creating a new aviation technology firm.
- Attracting a further $4 million in funding on top of the $2 million of funding already provided by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise.
- Promoting the Cluster’s capabilities extensively within New Zealand and overseas.
Mr Jones says the Cluster is looking for a project manager who is experienced and comfortable in a manufacturing/engineering environment with at least 10 years direct work experience in a project management role.
The Cluster will advertise the position from 22 April. Applications close on 1 May and the Cluster aims to appoint a manager into the position during the month of May.
